Orbyt is a professional network — a place for creators, builders, and professionals to share what they know, find work and collaborators, and learn from each other. These Guidelines are the standards everyone agrees to when they use Orbyt. They exist so the platform stays what it's meant to be: useful, safe, and trustworthy.
Orbyt is an adults-only platform — you must be 18 or older to use it.
They apply to everything you do on Orbyt — posts, comments, columns, Stacks, direct messages, profile and professional information, audio and image uploads, Launchpad projects, job posts, MentorLink and Expert sessions, Six Degrees intros, and your interactions with our AI assistant. They apply alongside our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Child Safety Standards.
We enforce with a mix of automated tools and human review. We don't catch everything instantly — when something slips through, we rely on the community to report it.
What We Expect From Everyone
Most of Orbyt comes down to five principles. The detailed rules below are how we apply them.
- Be real. Use your real identity and accurate professional information. One person, one authentic presence.
- Be respectful. Treat people the way you would a colleague you respect. Debate ideas hard; never attack the person.
- Be safe. Don't put anyone — including yourself — at risk of harm.
- Be honest. No scams, no deception, no faking who you are or how popular you are.
- Add value. Contribute knowledge, ask good questions, and keep things relevant. Orbyt is a professional space, not a dumping ground.
What's Not Allowed
These categories are not exhaustive. We may remove content or act on an account when behavior violates the spirit of these rules, even if it isn't literally listed below.
1. Safety & dignity
Child sexual exploitation and abuse (zero tolerance). Any content that sexualizes a minor — or that a reasonable adult might mistake for it — is removed immediately, reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement, and results in a permanent ban with no appeal. This includes grooming, sextortion, and any attempt to make contact with a minor for sexual purposes. See our Child Safety Standards.
Adult sexual content and nudity. Orbyt is not a platform for adult content. Pornography, sexually explicit material, and full nudity are not allowed in posts, profile media, comments, or messages.
Educational, scientific, artistic, or breastfeeding context may be permitted at our discretion when clearly non-sexual. When in doubt, err on the side of restraint.
Non-consensual intimate imagery (zero tolerance). Sharing — or threatening to share — intimate, nude, or sexual images of someone without their consent (“revenge porn”) is never allowed, regardless of how the image was obtained. We remove it on report, ban the account, and will assist victims with takedown across copies.
Sexual harassment. Unwanted sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, sexualized comments about someone's body, or sending unsolicited sexual content — including in direct messages, MentorLink, and Expert sessions — is not allowed.
Harassment and bullying. Targeted attacks against individuals or groups — insults, slurs, repeated unwanted contact, coordinated pile-ons, or threats — are not allowed, including attacks based on appearance, identity, or beliefs.
Disagreement, criticism of public figures or ideas, and pointed professional debate are fine. Personal attacks are not.
Hate speech and discrimination. Content that dehumanizes or attacks people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, religion, caste, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender identity, disability, age, or serious disease is not allowed. This includes slurs, hateful imagery, and content promoting violence against any of these groups.
Violent threats, incitement, and violent organizations. Direct threats against a person or group, content that glorifies or incites violence or terrorism, and content that promotes or represents violent or hateful organizations are not allowed — whether the target is named by identity, group, role, or location.
Graphic violence and shock content. Gratuitously graphic, gory, or shocking content posted to disgust or harm — including real-world violence, mutilation, or animal cruelty — is not allowed.
Newsworthy, documentary, or educational context may be permitted with appropriate warning, at our discretion.
Suicide, self-harm, and eating disorders. Content that promotes, encourages, or gives instructions for suicide, self-harm, or disordered eating is not allowed. Sharing your own experience in a way that supports recovery is welcome.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, reach out to a local crisis line. In the US, dial or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. International: findahelpline.com.
2. Authenticity & identity
Real identity. Orbyt is built on real professional identities. Don't create accounts with false information, and don't run accounts on behalf of someone else without authorization.
Impersonation. Don't pose as another person, brand, or organization, or create accounts designed to deceive others about who's behind them. Parody or commentary accounts must be clearly and prominently labeled as such. Don't use someone else's photo as your profile picture.
Misrepresenting your background. Don't fabricate credentials, employment history, education, certifications, or expertise. On a professional network, false professional claims do real harm — to people who trust them and to everyone who plays it straight.
Synthetic and manipulated media. Don't share media that has been manipulated or generated (including by AI) in a way that's likely to deceive and cause harm — fake quotes attributed to real people, deepfakes, or doctored media presented as real. Significant AI-generated or AI-altered media depicting real people or events should be clearly disclosed.
Fake engagement. Buying, selling, or artificially inflating followers, connections, likes, views, reviews, ratings, or endorsements — or coordinating to do so — is not allowed. This includes fake Expert/MentorLink reviews and manipulated Launchpad traction.
3. Professional conduct
Orbyt's professional surfaces — Jobs, MentorLink, Experts, Launchpad — carry extra responsibility because money, careers, and trust are on the line.
Job and recruiting scams. No fake or misleading job postings, “pay to apply” schemes, fee-for-placement demands, or postings that exist to harvest personal data. Don't solicit payment from candidates.
Off-platform payment lures and circumvention. Don't use Orbyt to lure people off-platform to defraud them, and don't misuse mentor/expert relationships to extract money or favors outside the agreed terms.
Misrepresenting services. Mentors and Experts must not misrepresent their qualifications, availability, or what a session includes.
Multi-level marketing, pyramid schemes, and get-rich-quick. Recruitment-driven income schemes and “guaranteed returns” promotions are not allowed.
Unsolicited commercial spam. Don't blast unsolicited sales pitches, mass-DM strangers, or repeatedly push commercial content into places it doesn't belong.
4. Privacy & intellectual property
Doxxing and private information. Sharing someone's private information without consent — home address, phone number, financial details, government identifiers, private medical information, or non-public images — is not allowed, including encouraging others to use it to contact or harm them.
Recording and sharing others. Don't share private communications or recordings of people who had a reasonable expectation of privacy.
Intellectual property. Don't post content you don't own or have permission to share. Repeat copyright or trademark infringement may result in termination. Report infringement via the DMCA process in our Terms of Service.
5. Platform integrity & security
Spam and coordinated inauthentic behavior. Including: repeatedly posting the same or near-identical content; mass following/unfollowing/mentioning to manipulate visibility; operating multiple accounts to evade enforcement or amplify content; hidden links; and automated abuse.
Platform and security abuse. Reverse-engineering, scraping (other than via documented APIs), exploiting vulnerabilities, distributing malware, or any attempt to compromise the security or integrity of Orbyt or its users is not allowed and may be referred to law enforcement.
Illegal goods and activities. Promoting or facilitating the sale of illegal drugs, weapons, stolen goods, counterfeits, or other illegal services — or facilitating fraud, theft, or evasion of law enforcement — is not allowed.
Misinformation that risks real-world harm. We don't require that everything posted be correct — people can be wrong, debate, and change their minds. We do remove content that materially threatens public health, electoral integrity, or physical safety: fabricated medical advice that could cause injury, voter-suppression hoaxes, or false emergency claims.
Controls You Have
You don't have to wait for us to act. Every member can:
- Block someone — they can no longer see your profile, follow you, message you, or interact with your content.
- Mute an account to stop seeing its content without blocking it.
- Restrict or control comments and replies on your own posts.
- Report any post, comment, profile, message, or session for review.
Managing who you interact with is always your right, for any reason.
How We Enforce
- Automated moderation at upload time. Posts, comments, and uploaded media are screened by automated systems before they reach the Service. Clearly prohibited content is removed without ever being shown.
- Community reporting. Anyone can report content they believe violates these Guidelines.
- Human review. Reported content is reviewed by our team. We aim to act on confirmed violations within 24 hours, often faster for severe categories.
- Proactive enforcement. Some categories — child sexual exploitation, credible threats of violence, non-consensual intimate imagery, and platform-wide spam attacks — are pursued proactively, not only on report.
Whenever we limit or remove your content or restrict your account, we tell you which guideline was involved and, where the decision is eligible, how to appeal it.
Actions We Take
Action depends on severity and the account's history. In rough order of escalation:
- Warning — an in-app notice with the policy you violated.
- Content removal — the post, comment, image, or audio is removed and you're told why.
- Feature limitation — posting, commenting, or messaging may be temporarily restricted.
- Temporary suspension — login blocked for a defined period.
- Permanent ban — the account is closed and the person is barred from operating new accounts.
- Law-enforcement referral — for illegal content (especially child exploitation, credible imminent threats, or evidence of serious crime), we may preserve and disclose information to authorities.
For the most severe violations — child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, credible threats of mass harm, or doxxing combined with incitement — we skip directly to a permanent ban.
How to Report
- Long-press the post, comment, profile, or message you want to report.
- Tap Report.
- Choose the most specific category that fits.
- Optionally add a short note for context.
- Submit — you'll see a confirmation and the report enters our review queue.
You usually won't get a notification when a report is acted on (for reviewer safety and queue efficiency). If something you reported is still up after a day, email support@orbytsocial.com with the link.
False reports made in bad faith — for example, mass-reporting an account because you disagree with it — are themselves a violation and may result in action against the reporter.
Appeals
If your content was removed or your account was actioned and you believe it was wrong:
- Email support@orbytsocial.com from your account's email address.
- Include the content identifier (shown in-app on the removed item) and a brief explanation.
- We aim to respond within 3 business days.
If we agree, we restore the content and lift restrictions. If we disagree, we explain why. Some decisions — those involving illegal content or imminent safety concerns — are not appealable.
If You See Something Illegal or Imminent
- Child sexual abuse material: use the in-app Report flow and select that category — we escalate immediately. You may also report to CyberTipline directly.
- Credible threats of violence or self-harm: use Report. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services (911 in the US, 999 in the UK, 112 in much of the EU).
- Suicide or self-harm crisis: contact a crisis line. In the US, dial or text 988. International: findahelpline.com.
How These Apply to Our AI Features
When you use Orbyt's AI assistant (Orbee) or other AI features, these Guidelines still apply: don't use them to generate prohibited content, impersonate others, or produce deceptive synthetic media. See our Privacy Policy for how AI features handle your data.
Updates to These Guidelines
The internet changes, and so do the ways people abuse it. We update these Guidelines from time to time. Material changes are announced through the Service. Continued use of Orbyt after an update's effective date means you accept the updated Guidelines.
