Orbyt is built for creators, professionals, and curious people to share what they know and learn from each other. These guidelines exist so that the platform stays a place worth showing up to — useful, safe, and trustworthy.
These rules apply to everything you do on Orbyt: posts, comments, columns, direct messages, profile information, audio and image uploads. They apply alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
We use a mix of automated tools and human review to enforce these guidelines. We do not catch everything immediately. When something slips through, we rely on people in the community to report it.
What's Not Allowed
The categories below are not exhaustive. We may remove content or take action on accounts when behavior violates the spirit of these rules even if it is not literally listed.
Child sexual abuse material (zero tolerance)
Any content that sexualizes a minor, or that an adult might mistake for it, is removed immediately and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to law enforcement. Accounts found posting such content are permanently banned with no appeal.
Sexual content and nudity
Orbyt is not a platform for adult content. Pornography, sexually explicit content, and full nudity are not allowed in posts, profile photos, comments, or direct messages.
Educational, scientific, artistic, or breastfeeding context may be permitted at our discretion when clearly non-sexual. When in doubt, err on the side of restraint.
Harassment and bullying
Targeted attacks against individuals or groups — insults, slurs, repeated unwanted contact, coordinated pile-ons, or threats — are not allowed. This includes harassment based on appearance, identity, beliefs, or any other personal characteristic.
Disagreement, criticism of public figures or ideas, and pointed professional debate are fine. Personal attacks are not.
Hate speech and discrimination
Content that dehumanizes or attacks people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, disability, age, or serious disease is not allowed. This includes slurs, hateful imagery, and content that promotes violence against any of these groups.
Threats and incitement to violence
Direct threats against a person or group, content that glorifies violence or terrorism, or that incites others to harm someone, are not allowed. This is true whether the target is identified by name, group, role, or location.
Self-harm and suicide
Content that promotes, encourages, or provides instructions for self-harm or suicide is not allowed. Discussion of one's own experience in a way that supports recovery is welcome.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, please reach out to a local crisis line. In the United States, dial or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Illegal goods and activities
Promoting or facilitating the sale of illegal drugs, weapons, stolen goods, counterfeit items, or other illegal services is not allowed. Content that facilitates fraud, theft, or evasion of law enforcement is also not allowed.
Spam, scams, and coordinated inauthentic behavior
This includes:
- Repeatedly posting the same or substantially similar content.
- Mass following, mass un-following, or mass mentioning to manipulate visibility.
- Operating multiple accounts to evade enforcement or amplify content.
- Posing as another person, brand, or organization without authorization.
- Phishing, fake giveaways, pyramid or Ponzi schemes, fake investment promotions, or any content designed to defraud people.
- Hidden links, automated scripts, scraping, and other forms of platform abuse.
Privacy violations and doxxing
Sharing private information about another person without their consent — home address, phone number, financial details, government identifiers, private medical information, or non-public photos — is not allowed. This includes encouraging others to contact, harass, or harm someone using their personal information.
Intellectual property
Don't post content that you do not own or have permission to share. Repeated copyright or trademark infringement may result in account termination. Notify us of infringement using the DMCA process described in our Terms of Service.
Misinformation that risks real-world harm
We do not require that everything posted on Orbyt be correct — people are allowed to be wrong, to debate, and to change their mind. We do remove content that materially threatens public health, electoral integrity, or physical safety, such as fabricated medical advice that could cause injury, voter-suppression hoaxes, or false emergency claims.
Platform manipulation and security abuse
Reverse-engineering, scraping (other than via documented APIs), exploiting vulnerabilities, distributing malware, or any attempt to compromise the security or integrity of Orbyt or other users is not allowed and may be referred to law enforcement.
How We Enforce
We use a combination of automated tools and human review:
- Automated moderation at upload time. Posts, comments, and uploaded media are classified by automated systems for objectionable material before they reach the Service. Content that is clearly prohibited is removed without ever being shown.
- Community reporting. Anyone can report content they believe violates these guidelines.
- Human review. Reported content is reviewed by our team. We aim to act on confirmed violations within 24 hours of receipt, often faster for severe categories.
- Proactive enforcement. Some categories — especially sexual exploitation of minors, credible threats of violence, and platform-wide spam attacks — are pursued proactively, not only in response to reports.
Actions We Take
The action depends on the severity of the violation and an account's history. In rough order of escalation:
- Warning. An in-app notification with a copy of the policy you violated.
- Content removal. The post, comment, image, or audio is removed and the author is notified with the reason.
- Feature limitation. Posting, commenting, or messaging may be temporarily restricted.
- Temporary suspension. Login is blocked for a defined period.
- Permanent ban. The account is closed and the person is barred from operating new accounts on Orbyt.
- Law-enforcement referral. For illegal content (especially child exploitation, credible imminent threats, or evidence of serious crime), we may preserve and disclose information to the appropriate authorities.
For the most severe violations — child sexual abuse material, credible threats of mass harm, doxxing combined with incitement — we skip directly to permanent ban.
How to Report
- Long-press the post, comment, or profile you want to report.
- Tap Report.
- Select the category that best describes the violation. (More categories = better signal for our review queue. Pick the most specific one available.)
- Optionally add a short note explaining the context.
- Submit. You'll see a confirmation, and the report enters our review queue.
You won't typically get a notification when a report is acted on, both for reviewer safety and to keep the queue efficient. If you reported content that's still up after a day, feel free to email support@orbytsocial.com with the post link.
False reports made in bad faith — for example, mass-reporting an account simply because you disagree with their views — are themselves a violation of these guidelines and may result in action against the reporter.
Appeals
If your content was removed or your account was actioned, and you believe the decision was wrong:
- Email support@orbytsocial.com from the email address associated with your account.
- Include the post or comment identifier (visible in-app on the removed content) and a brief explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect.
- We aim to respond within 3 business days.
If we agree with the appeal, we restore the content and lift any account restrictions. If we disagree, we explain why. Some decisions — particularly those involving illegal content or imminent safety concerns — are not appealable.
If You See Something Illegal or Imminent
- Child sexual abuse material: use the in-app Report flow and select that category. We escalate immediately. You may also report to CyberTipline directly.
- Credible threats of violence or self-harm: use Report and select the appropriate category. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services (911 in the US, 999 in the UK, 112 in much of the EU).
- Suicide or self-harm crisis: contact a crisis line. In the US, dial or text 988. International directory: findahelpline.com.
Updates to These Guidelines
The internet changes, and so do the ways people abuse it. We update these guidelines from time to time. Material changes will be announced through the Service. Continued use of Orbyt after the effective date of an update means you accept the updated guidelines.
